The number one Video Streaming website YouTube is now planning to add YouTube Shorts on desktop and tablet. The feature was earlier available only on smartphones as the users could not open shorts videos on platforms such as desktop, tablet and smart TVs. Now Google is planning to roll out support for desktop and tablet. Though Smart TVs still won’t be able to play shorts clips.
Two tech giants YouTube ( Shorts ) and Instagram (Reels) have been trying to get into the territory of small video platform behemoth TIKTOK. YouTube has planned now to make sure that the big screen users too get to enjoy the addictively entertaining short clips created by the talented creators.
According to the report, this feature may be rolled out in the next few weeks. This is good news for tablet and desktop users as many people prefer to enjoy content on a bigger screen rather than a smartphone. However, it will be interesting to see how the YouTube interface will be changed for desktop and tablet, which is different from smartphones. It looks like desktop users will soon see a separate shorts section with all the shorts clips in one place.
YouTube is also planning to add a new feature to its Shorts platform called ‘Cut’. This will allow its users to join parts of other users’ videos to their own clip. This feature ‘Cut’ unsurprisingly is similar to the ‘Stitch’ feature that’s available on TikTok. However, users do have an option to simply opt-out of the feature if they don’t want to add videos.
This new feature called cut on the YouTube shorts will be available first on Apple’s iOS devices and then later on the Android phones.
