YouTube is all set to offer an improved feature that might allow Android users to search for related content based on objects around them.

Google Lens on YouTube

According to a report by 9to5Google, the video streaming platform will be soon updated with a new Google Lens Button for Android devices. This button will allow the users to use the video streaming platform as a visual search tool through its new functionality. When one searches for videos, they will be able to see the Google Lens Button beside the microphone button which allow users to conduct a voice search instead of typing the search keywords.

Google Lens can identify objects in the viewfinder by establishing a comparison between the real-life objects and their images that are available on the internet. It also has the capability to translate almost 100 languages in real time. Besides, it is also equipped with optical character recognition (OCR) functionality, which lets it identify text in images.

According to the report, this new feature will allow users to capture images, search for them using Google Lens and perform a search for them on YouTube. The report also states that beside the search bar, the Lens icon might also appear on top of the search results page on the YouTube app for Android.
