Dr Web’s security experts and BleepingComputer’s researchers have discovered a brand-new malware named “SpinOK” that has infected more than 100 programmes. These apps are downloadable through the Google Play Store. The fact that these hacked applications have had an astounding total of over 400 million downloads makes this revelation extremely worrying.

Researchers have found that in order to lure users in, this trojan software poses as an advertisement SDK and offers minigames with daily incentives. However, after being downloaded, the virus captures user data and transfers it to a distant server.

According to the analysis by Doctor Web, the SpinOk module appears to be made to keep users interested in apps by utilising mini-games, a system of duties, and purported awards and reward systems.

The research also shows that the infected apps had varying degrees of dangerous material, with some still having hazardous malware while others just having it in certain versions or having been completely deleted from the store. However, given that these applications have been downloaded 421,290,300 times, a sizeable portion of Android users are in danger of cyberattacks. While Google has been informed by the researchers, users are urged to exercise care and avoid downloading these kinds of apps.

-Noizz: a music-filled video editor (at least 1 million installs).

-Zapya: The trojan module was included in versions 6.3.3 to 6.4 but is no longer present in the most recent version, 6.4.1, of Zapya – File Transfer, Share (at least 1M installs).

-vFly: The video editor and creator VFly has at least 5 million installs.

-MVBit: it is a programme that creates MV videos (at least 5M installs).

-Biugo: it is a video creator and editor with at least 5 million installs.

-Crazy Drop: with at least 1 million downloads.

-Cashzine: Earning cash rewards with Cashzine (at least 1 million installs).

-Fizzo Novel: getting (At least 1M installs) – Reading Offline.

-CashEM: Geting  Rewards from CashEM (at least 5M installs).

-Tick: with (At least 5M installs) Tick: watch to earn.

Users are urged to delete these applications if they previously downloaded them, even though Google was informed of the problem by the researchers and the apps were taken down from Google Play. Additionally, they are encouraged to update Google Play, including security updates, if they see these apps in the app store.

Additionally, using antivirus software to safeguard your device from any such hazardous malicious agents is strongly advised. As these updates contain bug fixes and increased security while addressing current concerns, such as glitches and crashes, they should also be applied to your device on a regular basis.
