You can now transfer Apple Music playlists to YouTube Music

Apple Music is getting a new cross-platform feature which will allow users to transfer their playlists to YouTube Music. The Cupertino-based tech giant highlights that one can transfer the playlists “another service”. However, it currently supports YouTube Music only. Users will only be able to transfer the playlists which are self-created or created collaboratively. You cannot transfer music files or the folders in which playlists are present through this process.

How to Transfer Apple Music Playlists to YouTube Music

  1. Go to Apple’s Data and Privacy page.
  2. Sign in to your Apple ID account.
  3. Select Transfer a copy of your data.
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions.
  5. Sign in to your YouTube Music account to start transferring the playlists.
  6. Apple will send an email notification when the transfer begins.
  7. You can check the status of the transfer or cancel the transfer on the Dat

Transfer Apple Music Playlists to YouTube Music

A recently published support page reveals the details of Apple’s new playlist transfer functionality. The iPhone maker says that users can request to transfer their playlists to from the Data and Privacy page.

In order to transfer playlists, users will require an active Apple Music or iTunes Match subscription. Besides, they will need an active YouTube Music account. It is to be noted that transferring a playlist will typically take a few minutes. Apple’s support document explains that it can also take up to several hours. It will depend on the number of playlists and their size.

Currently, Apple will let users transfer only those playlists that one have created by themselves. This also includes the collaborative playlists a user owns. Further, you can also transfer the playlists which only include songs that are available on YouTube Music. This means users will not be able to transfer any exclusive songs, podcasts, or audiobooks.
