On Tuesday, the instant messaging platform introduced a new update that would allow users to set certain contacts as favorites. Users can use this feature to save the people they frequently contact at the top of the screen and WhatsApp chats and calls.

Favorites on WhatsApp

WhatsApp announced this new feature in a blog post. Users can easily organize chats by adding the frequently contacted under the favorites filter. This filter is added beside the All, Unread and Groups filter on the instant messaging platform, following this update.

In the blog post, WhatsApp stated, “Focusing on your favorites just got a lot easier on WhatsApp. Starting today, you can quickly find the people and groups that matter most at the top of your calls tab and as a filter for your chats. Whether it’s your family group chat or your best friend, your ‘favorites’ will be the same across your chats and calls, so you can speed dial them from your calls tab too.”

How to add contacts to your ‘Favorites’?

Open WhatsApp and from the chats screen, you can select the favorites filter. Select the contacts or groups that you want to add under this filter. You can tap on the filter to view the contacts that you have selected.

To set contacts as favorites in the WhatsApp Calls tab, simply select the ‘Add favorites’ option and choose the contacts. To manage contacts in favorites, head over to Settings > Favorites > Add to Favorites. Under this setting, you can manage or reorder contacts saved as favorites.
