Just a few weeks back, Whtsapp rolled out their new feature that allowed users to react to any message with the emoji of their choice. After some weeks of the previous release, Whatsapp is now all set to release the next latest feature all of us have been anticipating about- reacting to messages with the emojis of our choice!
Previously, the instant messaging application allowed users to choose between only five emojis, that is, thumbs up, thumbs down, red heart, sad, surprise, laughing and pray emojis. Users will now be able to react to text messages or media files in an individual or group chat using more emojis. This will be made possible with a plus symbol that will give access to many different emojis by unlocking the emoji tray at the bottom.
This emoji tray is also said to contain a search button with the help of which the users can search for any distinct emoji that they want to use other than the five previously present emojis and also will be able to select the skin tone for that particular emoji. All of these features weren’t available in the previous update and were anticipated for a long time.
In a press release announcing the most recent development, WhatsApp stated that it had collaborated with Emojipedia, the organisation behind World Emoji Day, to explain some of the “hotly disputed and newest emojis” that users would encounter in chats. Regular users will get access to this data as soon as the new version is released.
Keith Broni, Editor-in-Chief of Emojipedia, commented on the development in the press release, saying, “With over 3,600 conceivable new emoji alternatives, we’re happy to work up with WhatsApp today and leverage our expertise to address the hot button emoji comprehension debates.”
Since the Meta-owned application’s other sister platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, have had the “respond with emoji” feature for a while. Given that so many individuals still work from home nowadays and frequently use the app for personal or professional communication, this function is especially useful. It merely enables them to communicate using an emoji rather than sending a message as a reply.
Apart from the latest update, Whatsapp is also said to be working on another update- the companion mode, that will help users sync their chat history between multiple devices without the presence of an active internet connection. Although when this feature will be available to us, only time will tell.
