According to a report by a feature tracker earlier, WhatsApp was claimed to be currently testing a feature that would be able to translate messages using the technology of Google for Android devices. However, a new report states that this new feature will rely on the in-house technology of the instant messaging platform.

WhatsApp’s auto-translation feature might not use Google Tech

A latest report by whatsapp feature tracker state that WhatsApp will use it’s in house Technology and will not be dependent on any third party to support the auto translation feature. This signifies that the entire processing of this feature will occur on the device and the messages will remain end to end encrypted.

As per the screenshot shared by the feature tracker, the feature is titled “Translate your message”. WhatsApp also highlights, “Your texts are end-to-end encrypted. No one, including WhatsApp, can read them.”

Users will have to turn on a toggle to translate all the messages in a chat they will also be able to choose the language in which the messages are to be translated in and the output language after that. WhatsApp will ask the user to download a language pack. Once it has downloaded all the messages and the chat will be automatically translated.

Currently the feature is not available to even beta testers as it is still under development. So the ones who are using the latest version of WhatsApp for Android Beta through the Google Play Beta program might not be able to access it, as well.
