According to WABETAINFO, WhatsApp is developing a new feature for its iOS beta version that will prohibit users from capturing screenshots of their profile pictures.

According to reports, the modification was found in the most recent WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.10.10.70 through the TestFlight app. The upgrade will lessen the possibility of harmful activity and enhance user privacy.

Upon attempting to take a screenshot of a profile photo, users will immediately receive a notice alerting them to the fact that this activity has been prohibited in order to protect the privacy of all WhatsApp users.

This feature, which forbids users from taking and sharing profile images without the owner’s permission, will serve as an extra line of privacy protection.

Since users can still take pictures with other devices, the risk of unauthorised image capture will not completely disappear despite the modification. WhatsApp will, nevertheless, lessen the possibility that these images will be captured naturally with the main smartphone.

The WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.4.25 update was recently released, as reported by WABETAINFO, a service for Android users.

In order to ensure there are no inconsistencies, WhatsApp appears to be striving to implement the feature for both platforms.

Key Details

Users of WhatsApp for iOS version 24.10.10.70 won’t be allowed to capture screenshots of other users’ profile pictures, according to a recent report from WABetaInfo. Installing this beta version through the TestFlight app is another option. In addition, WABetInfo posted a screenshot with the words, “Screenshot capture blocked” and “This screenshot has been blocked to protect everyone’s privacy on WhatsApp.”

According to the article, this particular feature is intended to enhance user privacy and mitigate the potential risks that come with the unauthorised sharing and dissemination of private profile images. It is currently not possible for Android users of WhatsApp to capture screenshots of their profile pictures.

Instead of taking a picture, the messaging app presents the owner with a dark screen and notifies them that they are unable to take a screenshot because of program restrictions. It appears that WhatsApp will not allow users to choose this privacy feature, thus you won’t be able to manually modify it under the Privacy settings.

This privacy feature is an important step against misuse or unauthorised redistribution of profile photographs from the app, which occasionally contain sensitive information, even though it does not completely prevent misuse.
