WhatsApp often talks about user privacy. The instant messaging app made headlines in the past few months for features that enhance user privacy. Some of these features are not allowing users to take screenshots from profile photos, implementing passkeys and letting them control who uses the avatar on stickers. The instant messaging platform, according to reports, is working on a feature that allows users to quickly view their security settings.

Reports about the new Whatsapp privacy feature

According to a report by WA Beta Info, an authoritative source of news about WhatsApp, Meta, owned by Facebook, is developing a new feature for Android 2.24.15.13, which is now available in the Google Play Store. This feature is designed to allow users to quickly review their security settings and add extra layers of protection.

A screenshot from the publication reveals the new security checkup function, which is intended to simplify the management of account security. The users will be able access and configure multiple security options on a single page. This feature will, for example, allow users to create a passkey that allows them to log into WhatsApp with biometric data, or by using a screenlock.

Users can also add an email address to their account to facilitate account recovery in the event that they are unable to receive SMS verification codes. By enabling two-step authentication, you can add an additional layer of security by adding a 6-digit personal code. This will further protect your account from unauthorized entry.

This feature is a proactive way to ensure the safety of your account. WhatsApp encourages its users to configure and engage with their security preferences by putting all the important security settings at one place. This intuitive interface simplifies security settings management, making it easier to understand and implement different protective measures.

In the report, it was also stated that WhatsApp would provide prompts to remind users to update and review their security settings. These reminders help users maintain security and remain vigilant over time.

The security checkup is currently under development and will be available in a future version. Whatsapp is also working on a feature for web client as well!
