WhatsApp for Android is testing a new chat filter called ‘Favorites’ in the beta version. This chat filter will be able to highlight the favorite chats of the user for easier access.

WhatsApp is currently working on a new feature that will allow users to add and filter their favorite charts for the Android app. This feature is under development. According to the report, the new feature is rolling out to testers who have registered through the Google Play Beta program.

Here is what we know more about this feature so far

According to a report by WABetaInfo, the new feature has been spotted on WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.12.7. Users will be able to use this feature to separate their favorite charts using this new chat filter. This feature will be helpful for the ones who get a lot of messages from several people and struggle to find the ones who they contact regularly. Although the chat pinning feature is available on WhatsApp, the instant messaging platform allows only a maximum of three pinned chats after the update.

Four new filters have been added to WhatsApp- the All, Unread, and Groups filters were already added earlier. Now, the 4th filter that can be seen is the ‘Favourites’ filter.

How does this chat filter work?

The description of the new filter states, “Make it easy to find the people and groups that matter most across WhatsApp.” users will be able to find an ‘Add To Favorite’ option towards the bottom which can be clicked to manually add contacts to this list. Users will also be able to remove and reorder chats as per their preference.
