WhatsApp is working on a new AI feature. This feature will allow users to hold hands-free verbal conversations. Users will be able to communicate with Meta AI. Meta AI is the AI chatbot which is integrated into the app. According to a report, WhatsApp was working on letting users send voice notes to meta AI. This was to allow one way verbal communication. However the new information claims that the AI chatbot will be able to respond verbally also. This voice mode feature might arrive with several voice options to choose from. All though the differences between the options that the new feature has to offer are not yet known to us.
WhatsApp to add Meta AI Voice Mode
In a report, WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo said that they spotted the voice mode feature for meta AI in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.17.16. They also found a separate post where the same feature was in WhatsApp beta for iOS version 24.16.10.70.
Currently this feature is not visible in the beta version of the app. This is likely because the company is still working on the feature and it is on the way. As a result the users who have enrolled in the Google Play beta program will not be able to test the Meta AI voice mode. The future tracker shared several screenshots and there we can see a new voice icon.
An audio waveform is representing this new voice icon. This icon is there right next to the text field in the Meta AI chat. When you tap on it a bottom sheet opens up and appears. The bottom sheet has Meta Ai written on top.
