According to a report, WhatsApp is currently testing a feature that would be able to translate messages using the technology of Google for Android devices.
Get to know more about the new feature
This new feature will be able to allow users to translate messages in other languages, according to a report issued by a feature tracker. This translation feature might use the life translation technology of Google and it works on- device. This means that the data is stored locally instead of being sent to a cloud server. Users can implement this feature to translate messages on the instant messaging platform. As of now the reports claim that the feature was noticed in the WhatsApp for Android app version 2.24.15.8.
To access this feature users might have to start downloading language packs. Initially the feature might be limited to English and Hindi. However, later on it is expected that the feature might provide support for more languages in the future. According to the speculation by the feature tracker the messages might be automatically translated within the chats signifying that the users would not have to move out of the app to get a translation of the respective text message.
Currently the feature is not available to even beta testers as it is still under development. So the ones who are using the latest version of WhatsApp for Android Beta through the Google Play Beta program might not be able to access it, as well.
