Apple’s iOS 17 might be released during the WWDC 2023 event. It has recently been speculated that the latest build of these iPhones might now support a good few of the older devices. Some earlier generation iPad models might just get ‘dropped off’ from the iPadOS 17’s compatibility list.
Apple’s annual WWDC has been scheduled for 5th June 2023. This Swiss giant is expected to unveil a bunch of different products. It has also been revealed that the latest iOS 17, iPadOS 17, the new watchOS, the newest macOS and many more will come with brand new and more fulfilling software updates for Apple Ecosystem. It is indeed true these updates are supposed to bring about Apple’s latest functionalities to their plethora of devices. One of the newer reports claims that there would be some iPhones and iPads which might not be fortunate enough to receive a system update. We have a list of all those models who allegedly aren’t going to be lucky enough and are not being given any more importance by the Swiss Giant.
As stated by MacRumors, Apple might just provide the latest iOS 17 update to only two generations of iPhones that also received the iOS 16 update. This in turn means iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X will be obliterated from Apple’s world and won’t receive the latest update. This in turn also refers to the fact that the new devices launched after mentioned iPhones will also be eligible for iOS 17 update. Here are all those who will in fact receive the iOS 17 update!

- iPhone XS Max
- iPhone XR
- iPhone 11
- iPhone 11 Pro series

Moving on to the iPads, a few of these iPad models will in fact not receive the iPad OS 17 update, as per MacRumors. The following are those who won’t be lucky enough for the newest update – the first generation iPad Pro 9.7”, iPad Pro 12.9” and (or) the fifth generation iPad.
