Tidal is behind on royalty payments, report claims

A new report from Norwegian newspaper Dagens Næringsliv claims that music streaming service Tidal is months behind on payments to labels.

Multiple sources have reportedly revealed that Tidal has yet to pay “three major international record companies.” Two executives from one label and a distributor have confirmed this report, the distributor saying that Tidal is over six months behind on royalty payments.

A translation from Music Business Worldwide also confirms the issue. The news agency spoke to the CEO of Phonofile, a Norwegian distribution company who says that there have been “delays in payments from Tidal”, and that they have not been paid since October. Frithjof Boye Hungnes, CEO of Norwegian indie label Propeller Recordings, says that they “have not been paid since October,”
