Recently the Google app on Android has added a new feature that will allow users to share links of search results without having to open the page. Get to know more about this below.

This new ‘Share’ button will allow users to quickly share the links that appear in the search results. Users would no longer have to open the link of the search results and copy the URL to share it with others.

How to use the new ‘Share’ button?

Android Police founder Artem Russakovskii on X (formerly Twitter) was the first to discover this new feature. The new share button for the Google app on Android appears above the ‘About This Result’ section and you can access this by typing on the three dot button that appears to the right of the search result.

When you click on it, the familiar Android system share sheet will open up from where you can choose to copy the link and then proceed to share it with someone or through an app. Previously uses had to wait for the page to load after typing on the link and then they would copy the link to share it. Google app, unlike web browsers, does not allow users to long tap on a link to get the URL.

However for certain search results, the share button might not appear. For example, there are no options to copy a link which will redirect the users to apps on the Google Play Store. While desktop users can copy a link by right clicking on it and then share it with others, the three dot button present on the right of the search result will open a small panel when they click on it. The panel will give more information about the website and just like the mobile version, you can share the link, save it or offer Google feedback on the search result.
