The popular music streaming platform has plans to establish direct engagement between music artists and their fans with the latest feature- ‘Listening Party’.
The Feature in-brief
Although the live audio app of Spotify is not active any longer, the company wants to use the technology through this new feature to facilitate a better listening experience for the listeners. Listeners can not only join streaming parties but will also be able to interact with the artist directly through the real-time audio tech and live chat room. The company confirmed to TechCrunch that they have been testing this feature in Indonesia and the U.S. since December 2023 and plans to bring this into the global market.
Perks of the ‘Listening Party’ feature
The new feature will be listed under the events section of an artist’s music profile. Fans can join the ‘Listening Party’ for events like album releases and engage with the artists directly. Not only will this help the fans to have an immersive listening experience but also bring more streams and benefit the artists to a great extent.
“It’s still in its early stages but we’ve had a few artists test over the last few months including Zara Larsson and Bleachers,” said a Spotify spokesperson to TechCrunch while talking about the feature.
Top fans will receive an invitation link to join the Listening Party while Spotify Premium users can join the party through the listing. Fans can go “on stage” or interact with their favorite artists through the live chat room. Spotify’s Group Session feature will come together with The Listening Party feature to let friends enjoy songs together.
