Last year in the month of December, Spotify started limiting its lyrics feature behind its Premium paywall as part of a test. This allowed users of the free version of Spotify to see the lyrics for only three songs per month. However it looks like that the music streaming service is back tracking on its decision and is raising the limit on the number for free tier users.

Spotify to raise the limits for viewing song lyrics: Get to know about the new limit

A Spotify spokesperson in a recent statement to TechCrunch stated, “At Spotify, we’re always testing and iterating. This means the availability of our features can vary across tiers and between markets and devices. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be expanding lyrics availability for Spotify Free users so more people can enjoy viewing more lyrics, globally.”

Spotify has not yet clarified why the access to lyrics was limited in the first place. As far as the new limit is concerned, It has been explained by the company that the“new monthly limit is higher than anyone would ever reach, and higher than any single user has even neared.” The exact figure still remains unknown to us. Spotify says that this change will start rolling out to free users in the upcoming weeks. In case you are wondering why you still cannot view lyrics for more than 3 songs per month, you will need to wait until this new update goes live.
