Some 54 percent of people globally are classed as urbanites, predicted to rise to 66 percent by 2050. So, it’s no surprise that mega-city demand for connectivity is huge, and growing rapidly.
Finding sites for macrocell base stations is becoming extremely difficult, dogged by issues such as the high cost of dense urban area real estate, lack of suitable sites, absence of large sites near to demand hotspots and long, complex regulatory approval processes to navigate.
All these challenges can be addressed by small cells.
