Reddit announced the launch of native promoted posts for both iOS and Android apps on Wednesday. The in-app posts will act as a standard reddit post, but from its advertisers.
As reported by the Marketing Land, the company sent an email to advertisers about the news and promoting the fact that its iOS and Android apps account for 41 percent of the time people spend on the site.
…its apps are the most popular way its 330 million monthly active users access Reddit content on mobile, and they now account for 41 percent of time spent on Reddit across all platforms. Logged-in app users also spend 30 percent more time per day than users who log in from desktop, and 80 percent of app users don’t access Reddit on desktop, according to the company.
The native promoted posts will likely include upvotes, downvotes and comment threads which Reddit is famous for. The in-app promoted posts will launch on iOS starting March 19, and will be available to Android in the following weeks.
