Despite the fact that Realme released a number of tablets following the Realme Pad in 2021, there was no “true” successor till today. Realme India has officially announced the Realme Pad 2, which has a slew of improvements and downgrades. The screen of the Realme Pad 2 is the most important change. It has an 11.2-inch LCD display (versus 11.5-inch) that runs at 120 Hz. Unfortunately, Realme has not stated its specific resolution, instead choosing the broad term 2K. Its refresh rate may be adjusted dynamically between 40/60/120 Hz.
The improved screen is paired with a larger 8,360 mAh battery which allows 33 Watt rapid charging. The Realme Pad 2 may provide up to 17 hours of playback of videos. This value is most likely at 60 Hz and may be substantially lower at 120 Hz. There’s also a “Reading Mode” that resembles an e-ink display for less strain on the eyes.
Realme has once again chosen a low-cost SoC for the Realme Pad 2. This time, it’s the 2022 MediaTek Helio G99. Users may also “boost” their RAM by up to 8 GB (on the highest-spec model only). It may be useful when utilising split-screen mode to launch two programmes side by side. Screen mirroring allows users to operate specific Realme smartphones (mainly GT-branded SKUs) using the bundled software.
The Realme Pad 2’s camera is virtually identical to its predecessor, having a single 8 MP rear camera module. At the time of writing, Realme’s website included no information on its front-facing camera. However, it is safe to presume that it employs the same one as the original. Furthermore, it is unclear whether the memory can be expanded further with a micro SD card.
Prices range from INR 19,999 (US$243) for the base model (6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage) to INR 22,999 (US$280) for the top variant. Pre-orders begin on July 26 and sales begin on August 1. Both devices are LTE-capable, and no Wi-Fi-only variants appear to exist. The Realme Tab 2 comes in two colour options: Imagination Grey and Inspiration Green.
