The OpenAI Spring Update event in brief
The new model of OpenAI, GPT-4o, brings together the Intelligence and capabilities of GPT 4 to all users. OpenAI’s CTO Mira Murati hosted the OpenAI Spring Update event. The live stream event not only witnessed the launch of ChatGPT’s desktop app but also several other innovations such as web UI update, GPT-4o free access and live demo of GPT-4o’s capabilities. During the session, Murati asserted OpenAI’s mission – “to ensure that artificial intelligence benefits all humanity.”
What is GPT-4o ?
This new AI model is much faster and offers the level of Intelligence as that of GPT-4o. It has also improved the capabilities across text, vision and audio. According to Murati, OpenAI was taking a huge step forward and is making human to machine interaction much more natural with the help of GPT-4o.
The voice mode on GPT-4o is extremely convenient and efficient. It intuitively recognises the voice of the speaker or multiple speakers. Till now, the voice mode had three models that came together to deliver the feature which are namely- transcription, intelligence, and text-to-speech. All the three models of the voice mode came together and orchestrated to deliver the voice mode. This led to latency, however, with GPT-4o all of this happens natively. “GPT-4o reasons across voice, text, and vision,” Murati said.
