Google’s partnership with Volvo looks to be coming to fruition as they have announced that they will add Google Maps, Assistant, and its Play Store to Volvo’s Sensus infotainment system in their newer models over the course of a few years. Sources say the system will run on Android Nougat 7.0. The automaker had announced its partnership with Google at last year’s I/O developer conference. They had said the intent of their teaming up was to build an Android-operated infotainment system in their upcoming models.
The Android integration would give Volvo a serious advantage over other brands in terms of personal in-car experience. Customers who want a convenient and accessible way to use their phone’s features in their car might flock to Volvo’s models if they turn out well.
