According to The Verge, MoviePass stopped their service between July 31st and mid August so some users can’t cancel their account.
Last Monday, MoviePass noticed that some members experienced a problem in cancelling their subscription. A number of members posted on the Twitter account about the issue. According to the post, users received an email from the app with a note “if you had a previously requested for cancelation prior to opt-in, your opt-in to the new plan will take priority and your account will not be cancelled.” A particular member name Chase Mitchell posted on his twitter account that he had already attempted to cancel his subscription once, but it did not go through, so he tries to cancel it again but it says “Failed to cancel account”.

MoviePass added that all members who are cancelling their account will be processed and no members were being blocked from deactivating their account. The company apologized because of the problem.
In addition, MoviePass announced that the new $9.95 plan was officially released today which is said to have a maximum of three movies per month. Members will have a $2.00 to $5.00 discount to any extra movie tickets acquired within the billing cycle.
