Microsoft now offers an extension for its antivirus scanner, Windows Defender on Google Chrome. The Defender extension will protect the browser from a variety of online threats such as malicious sites and phishing attacks on emails.
While Chrome already provides real-time protection from any online threats, Defender lets you “add an additional layer of protection when browsing online, powered by the same trusted intelligence found in Microsoft Edge”. Microsoft also claims that their protection against phishing attacks when used in their own Microsoft Edge browser was up to 99 percent, meanwhile on Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox it went up to 87 percent and 70 percent, respectively. The extension is currently available on the Chrome Web Store.
