The iQOO Z9x was introduced in India on Thursday by the Chinese smartphone company iQOO. The low-cost phone has an IP64 grade for splash protection and a 3.5mm audio port.

Cost and Availability

Three RAM and storage configurations of the iQOO Z9x are offered in India.

Priced at ₹12,999 for 4GB/128GB, ₹14,499 for 6GB/128GB, and ₹15,999 for 8GB/128GB, the Z9x is offered by iQOO. Starting on May 21, it will be sold on Amazon and the company website.

Design and Construction Quality

Despite being inexpensive, the iQOO Z9x has a “rich” personality. The textured rear panel of the Tornado Green color is visible from a variety of perspectives. The feel of the texture is opulent and fairly soft. It is so much so that, although being composed of polycarbonate, one may mistake the rear for glass.

Visual and Aural

The 6.72-inch display on the iQOO Z9x has a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits. The bright LCD panel adds to the enjoyment of the video streaming. Vibrant colors and decent visibility from all angles are present. Deeper blacks are absent from this panel in contrast to an AMOLED one. The refresh rate of 120Hz is quite smooth. With its twin stereo speaker configuration, the iQOO Z9x delivers a strong sound output that is clear, loud, and crisp.

Cameras

A 50-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel macro lens handle the photography portion. In daylight, the primary camera captures detailed photos with good colour reproduction. Even with considerable grain, the nighttime photos are passable.

The built-in cosmetics filter, which will spare you the trouble of a five-step beauty process and assist you in posting stories fit for Instagram, drew my attention among the other built-in filters. Although it serves as a stand-in for an ultra-wide camera, the 2-megapixel macro camera is adequate but doesn’t provide the best images. The videos were somewhat wobbly despite the excellent video recording, which is a result of OIS not being supported.

Efficiency and Programs

The iQOO Z9x does exceptionally well in this regard. Even though it’s a touch outdated, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset works rather well and can readily handle daily use.

Although the smartphone’s FunTouchOS 14—which is based on Android 14—has been smooth so far, the bloatware is worrisome and bothersome. Other than that, everything went well. Although it needs internet access, the micro music player was another clever feature that made music streaming easier.

The Battery and Its Charging

The 6,000mAh battery on the iQOO Z9x is a bit surprising considering its compact factor. With an average screen time of roughly two to three hours, the battery can last you more than a day. The large battery does require some time to fully charge, even though the 44W charger is quick. To fully charge from the dead, it takes roughly 1.5 hours.
