According to three people with knowledge of the project, the Information published a story on Friday stating that Apple is working on a more compact version of the iPhone, which is expected to be released by 2025.

According to the article, the rumored slimmer version will probably cost more than Apple’s iPhone Pro Max and be released alongside the iPhone 17 in September 2025.

According to the same source, the Cupertino, California-based company is now testing a number of designs for the device, code-named D23, which is most likely going to be equipped with Apple’s most recent chipset, the A19. Apple did not respond to a Reuters request for comment right away.

The anticipated redesign emphasizes how much Apple has to improve the iPhone, its best-selling product, given the fierce competition it faces from Samsung Electronics worldwide and Honor and Huawei in China.

According to research firm International Data Corporation, Samsung led the smartphone market in the first three months of 2024 with a 20.8% share, followed by Apple with a 17.3% share.

Apple’s iPhone revenue during the second quarter of its fiscal year dropped 10.5% to $45.96 billion.

The source claims that Apple also plans to replace its iPhone SE with a less expensive iPhone and discontinue its less expensive iPhone Plus model in the spring of 2025.

Days after the company debuted its most recent iPad Pro, which includes a new CPU for AI processing, Apple announced the news in an attempt to overtake its Big Tech competitors and may create dominance in this developing field.
