According to a report released by analytic firm Appfigures, the cumulative number of App Store titles has declined last year. This is reportedly the first time this has happened as iOS offering shrunk by 5 percent, starting 2017 with 2.2 million apps and ending the year with 2.1 million. Only around 755,000 apps were released at the time.
Appfigures cites Apple’s stricter policies for newer apps and the removal of old apps that failed to comply with compatibility guidelines contributed to its decline.
Meanwhile, Google Play had grown 30 percent with 1.5 million new apps, totaling at over 3.6 million apps.
