Xiaomi has recently launched a slew of home security products, including smart doorbells and security cameras. Today, the company unveiled the Xiaomi smart door lock M20, one more product with a security-related focus. The new gadget features a push-and-pull design and supports NFC and fingerprint unlocking. The Xiaomi M20 smart door lock has been released and is available for pre-order through the Mi Store for 1,799 yuan ($270) or Rs 21,680.

Xiaomi continues to broaden the scope of its offerings. The company doesn’t stop at smartphones; it also functions in a wide range of industries, from electric vehicles to toothbrushes. Smart home technology is one of them. As of yet, Xiaomi is preparing to unveil its newest flagship smart door lock.

The Xiaomi Smart Door Lock M20 has an integrated IML process and a middle frame made of high-strength alloy, granting it an anti-pinch design. The user can also adjust the gripping direction of the handle based on the direction in which the door opens and closes to avoid unintentional pinching of hands through the sliding door.  A Mijia security chip, which has been integrated into the Mi Smart Door Lock M20, encrypts and stores personal data such as fingerprints, lengthy passwords, and one-time passwords locally. Moreover, it restricts data transmission over networks and prevents it from being read by outside parties.

The Xiaomi Smart Door Lock M20 series, the company’s most recent update to the smart home product line, will go on sale on February 20, 2023. With an integrated peephole camera and a display screen, this new design, known as the “Smart Guardian Can See,” gives users a comprehensive view of the front door in real-time.  The Smart Guardian Can See is a definite improvement over the previous Xiaomi Smart Door Lock M20, which was released in 2022, with its thick outer door lock design. The new model’s integrated design makes installation less complicated, making it a straightforward addition to any home.

The Smart Guardian Can See includes a doorbell feature in addition to a camera and screen for the user’s convenience. With a price tag of around 2,000 yuan (Rs 24,104), the Smart Guardian Can See is intended to compete directly with high-end smart door locks on the market.

When compared to the current model, the Xiaomi Smart Door Lock M20, it has started to receive high marks for its structural rigidity and security features. The middle frame is made of high-strength alloy, and the integrated IML technology provides a solid and secure door lock. The Xiaomi Smart Door Lock M20 offers a number of unlocking options, including fingerprint, password, periodic password, NFC password, mobile phone Bluetooth unlocking, and Homekit. Private data storage, including passwords and fingerprints, is kept locally in encrypted storage to provide the highest level of security against hacking and data breaches.

When used in conjunction with a device that has Bluetooth gateway capabilities, the door lock also has the additional feature of allowing remote monitoring of the lock status through an app. This enables users to receive notifications for events such as the outer door lock panel being pried, multiple trial and error alarms, and door not closed alarms, among others. With eight AA batteries, the Xiaomi Smart Door Lock M20 can perform for up to 10 months. In an emergency, the outer door lock’s Type-C port can act as an emergency power source, enabling the door lock to be unlocked even in the absence of battery power.
