Instagram, which is owned by Meta, is expanding its Sensitive Content Control tool, allowing users to limit the amount of sensitive content and profiles they see on the platform. Sensitive Content Control, according to the platform, will apply to all surfaces where we offer suggestions.
Users can choose how much sensitive content appears in Search, Reels, Accounts You Might Follow, Hashtag Pages, and In-Feed Recommendations by going to the Settings menu and selecting Sensitive Content Control.
Sensitive Content Control was first implemented in July 2021, but only for the Explore feed. If enough individuals use Sensitive Content Control, a posts’ reach may be decreased if the published content that Instagram considers is sensitive.
Here’s more information on how the function works and what content is affected.
To change Sensitive Content Control, follow these steps:
- Click on “Settings” from profile page.
- Tap “Account and then “Sensitive Content Control”
- Select the content level as you wish to apply.
- Tap “Confirm.”
You can choose to retain the setting at its default (“Standard”), or to see more (“More”) or less (“Less”) of certain sorts of sensitive content. You have the option to change your mind at any moment.
In the next weeks, everyone will have access to this update. The business has renamed the Sensitive Content Control’s three options from when it first released the control to further understand what each option performs.
The three alternatives are:
- Standard: This is the default state, which limits some content.
- More: Allows users to opt-in to more sensitive content.
- Less: Restricts sensitive content to a greater extent than the default state.
Users under the age of 18 are not permitted to use the “more” option.
“There are additional tools we offer that can help you shape your Instagram experience, including Comment Control, Restrict, Block and Mute. Our hope is to provide more tools over time and make Instagram work better for you,” the company said.
Meanwhile, users can now pin up to three posts or reels to the top of their profile on the Meta-owned network. Users can begin pinning by tapping the three dots icon above a specific post and then selecting “pin to your profile.”
