Instagram unveils Boosted reels that enables companies to promote their Reels and convert them into advertisements. This could help reels to reach more people. The feed, Stories, Reels tab, and Explore page will all display Boosted Reels. However, the reel must be under 60 seconds in length. It must have a 9:16 aspect ratio (i.e., be shot vertically in full-screen) also.

What is available for boosting and what not?

Reels that incorporate third-party IP, such as copyrighted music, interactive stickers, or camera filters, are not currently eligible for boosting. Additionally, reels on Facebook are not eligible for boosted reels.

Businesses can enhance their reels by locating the reel in their profile column and selecting the “Boost Post” button. Instagram advises to review the insights after the ad has run. This will help to find out which reel generated the greatest engagement.

Instagram also shared a blog post to make this announcement. It states that Instagram Reels are a lighthearted and enjoyable method to introduce brand to new audiences. Since more people watch Reels for entertainment, companies can explore their hobbies more deeply. Reels are the fastest-growing format and a significant component of Instagram.

Meta puts a stake at boosted reels

Meta has placed a significant stake on Reels at the time of the new feature’s introduction. According to its Q1 2022 earning report, reels account for more than 20% of people’s Instagram time. During its July 27 earnings announcement, Meta will probably present an updated figure.

Additionally, Meta just made Reels APIs available for developers on a number of Instagram Platform endpoints. The APIs can be used by developers to schedule Reels and obtain metrics for Reels’ social interactions. The new APIs will enable developers to allow business accounts to publish reels as well. It will also enable the developers to make certain changes like hiding/ deleting comments, replying to comments etc.
