Instagram is the latest among several apps that have removed themselves from the Apple Watch. The app joins Google, Amazon, Twitter, and Slack in a slew of apps that have abandoned their Apple Watch counterpart. As of its recent app update on the iPhone, Instagram will no longer be available on the smartwatch.
A couple of days ago, Apple had placed new restrictions on non-native Apple Watch apps, requiring them to run on their watchOS 2 SDK if not a later version. The requirements were made to improve the device’s performance and speed.
Instagram has not stated whether the removal is temporary or for good.
