According to some reports, Meta is testing the water and gauging user feedback before it rolls out the feature that is showing unskippable ad breaks of 3 to 5 seconds for some users.
It looks like that the Meta owned social media platform is currently testing a new functionality that will show ads that can be skipped when users are scrolling through their feeds. Known as ad breaks, Meta is seamingly rolling out the experimental feature and testing it on a small group of users.
However the Meta owned company has not said anything officially about ‘Ad Breaks’. Certain users are being forced to watch unskippable ads for about 3 to 5 seconds on the social media platform before they can resume scrolling through their feed.
When a user clicked on the ‘i’ button to see what this feature actually does, the official description reads as follows- ‘’Ad breaks are a new way of seeing ads on Instagram. Sometimes you may need to view an ad before you can keep browsing.” this new feature aims to be the reason behind the frustration experienced by several users. Many of them are saying that they will stop using Instagram if the platform decides to introduce this feature officially.
An user on X posted, “Was wondering if I’m just out of the loop & this has been a thing happening for a while but it looks like it’s a pretty new way that Instagram is testing out to abuse their audience…or at least that’s what I’m seeing on Reddit. A sign of the end of IG?”
