Today, Huawei unveiled the Nova 12 Ultra and Nova 12 Pro, both of which have hardware variable aperture cameras and satellite connections. In addition, the Chinese company debuted the cheaper Nova 12 and Nova 12 Lite.
The Huawei Nova 12 has a 6.7″ 120Hz OLED display with 2,412×1,084 pixel resolution, a fingerprint scanner for biometric verification, and a centred punch-hole for the 60MP ultrawide front camera (100 FOV). It also features 1B colour support and a P3 broad colour gamut.
It has an elliptical camera island with an LED flash, a laser focus detector, a 50MP primary camera (with RYYB colour filter array), and an 8MP ultrawide camera (112 FOV) around the rear. The Huawei Nova 12 comes with HarmonyOS 4 and two storage options: 256GB and 512 GB. Huawei hasn’t revealed the CPU in the Nova 12 on its website, although it’s believed to be the Kirin 830 SoC.
Other advantages of the Huawei Nova 12 include a 4,600 mAh battery with 100W charging, USB-C, and NFC. It also boasts “bionic breathing liquid-cooling pulsating heat conduction” capabilities (machine translated from Chinese), which is said to increase heat dissipation by 60 times.
The Huawei Nova 12 Lite features a thinner profile (6.88mm vs. 6.98mm), a lighter weight (168 g vs. 191 g), a smaller battery (4,500 mAh vs. 4,600 mAh), and slower charging (66W vs. 100W) than the Huawei Nova 12. The Snapdragon 778G is also at the helm of the Nova 12 Lite, which boasts a 50MP primary camera sans an RYYB colour filter array and a different back panel design.
The Huawei Nova 12 and Nova 12 Lite are available in the same colours and storage capacities. The 256GB and 512GB Nova 12 variants cost $420/€380/INR34,915 and $475/€430/INR39,570, respectively, while the Nova 12 Lite models cost $350/€320/INR29,095 and $390/€355/INR32,585, respectively.
The Huawei Nova 12 and Nova 12 Lite are now available for pre-order in China via VMall and will launch on sale on January 5, 2024.
