One of the best apps for texting, calling, and making video calls is WhatsApp. The platform provides an integrated payment service in addition to these functions. In India, UPI-based payment services are provided via WhatsApp Pay. Peer-to-peer transfers, bill payments using QR codes, and more are examples of these services.
Requirements to activate WhatsApp Pay
- Ensure that you possess an active bank account in India.
- The phone number associated with your bank account and your WhatsApp number have to match.
- SIM Card: Your phone has to have the SIM card with the registered phone number inserted into it.
How to make payments with WhatsApp Pay
- Open WhatsApp on your iPhone or Android device.
- Navigate to the Payments Area. Tap the three dots in the upper-right corner of the Android menu. On iOS, swipe down to select the Settings tab.
- Locate and pick the “Add payment method” option by scrolling.
- To accept the terms and conditions and privacy policy, press “Continue” and then “Accept and Continue” on the Payments screen.
- To choose your bank, use the search bar.
- Make sure your SIM card is installed and connected to your registered phone number. To enable WhatsApp to send and receive SMS, select “Allow.”
- An SMS will be sent by WhatsApp to confirm your number. Your bank account information will display on the screen if the number matches.
- Input your UPI PIN to verify the configuration.
- Navigate to the Payments area or use the camera icon on the home screen.
- Use any UPI QR code scanner.
- Put in your UPI PIN to finish the purchase.
- WhatsApp provides a simple and efficient method for you to send money to any contact.
How to use WhatsApp to pay money to contacts
- Navigate to the contact’s chat room to send money.
- Next to the text field, tap the “rupee” sign.
- Input your UPI PIN to complete the payment process.
