Google is gearing up to launch its Find My Device network, designed to help users locate their lost phones and accessories. Recently, the tech giant sent out an email notifying users that the feature would go live in just three days. This initiative was initially announced last year, leveraging the vast number of Android devices to assist in finding misplaced phones, headphones, and trackers.

The rollout of this network was delayed as Google collaborated with Apple to establish industry standards, ensuring that the location technology wouldn’t be used for malicious tracking. This became a concern among Android users after Apple introduced AirTags in 2021.

In the email, Google specified that the launch of the Find My Device network would happen “in three days,” suggesting a launch date of Sunday, April 7, or more likely, Monday, April 8. This launch comes almost a year after the initial announcement. Users will receive a notification on their Android devices when the feature is activated, allowing them to opt out through Find My Device on the web until then.
