Google search is getting a new filter which is called ‘web’. This filter will only show links to the websites.
Want to know more about the ‘web’ filter? Here’s it
The most popular internet search engine all across the globe is coming up with some new changes to the way we access information through the search engine. At the recently concluded Google I/O, the San Francisco based tech giant declared that users can now check out website links under the new filter called ‘web’ if they do not want to see AI generated previews.
The vision that Google had for a search engine was pretty simple when Google was initially founded. The links of the websites that were relevant to the search query were shown to the users. However, the search engine has multiple layers on the top of results now. Links of websites has been pushed way down the page because of overviews generated by AI and them being displayed before the links.
In a post on X, Google stated “We’ve launched a new “Web” filter that shows only text-based links, just like you might filter to show other types of results, such as images or videos. The filter appears on the top of the results page alongside other filters or as part of the “More” option, rolling out today and tomorrow globally. We’ve added this after hearing from some that there are times when they’d prefer to just see links to web pages in their search results, such as if they’re looking for longer-form text documents, using a device with limited internet access, or those who just prefer text-based results shown separately from search features. If you’re in that group, enjoy!”
