Google Play Store is coming up with a new feature for the ones living in India. This feature called ‘Ask someone else to pay for this item’ allows others to pay for the item that they went to purchase.

What does this new feature do?

The pre-installed app store on all Android devices, Google Play Store is all set to get a new feature that allows the users to get someone else to pay for an app that they want to use or purchase.

This new feature was announced at the Google I/O 2024 and this can be very useful if you are not able to make purchases or want someone else to pay on your behalf. A new report by Android Authority suggests that the new Google Play Store functionality appears in the form of a ‘ask someone else to pay for this item’ button. This feature works with all apps that use the billing service of Google Play Store.

How can you use this feature?

To use the new feature, developers did not have to do any additional work other than integrating version 6 or later of the Play Billing Library. When you click on the button it will generate a payment link. You can share this payment link with the person who you want to pay for the purchase, to complete the transaction.

When you share the link it is also accompanied by a text that mentions the item the user wants to purchase. However the person needs to know your email address and can also ask for a refund.
