Google Photos is testing an easier way to hide faces from memories. According to reports, Google Photos, the media manager for Android devices, may be developing a new feature to easily hide certain people from the photo library. The feature will allow users to select faces of interest and hide them from the Memories tab without much effort.
C. Scott Brown of Android Authority, working with whistleblower Assemble Debug, revealed in the report that Google is testing a new feature called “Hide Face from Memories.” This was reportedly discovered after an APK teardown of the Google Photos app for Android.
As the name suggests, the feature is intended to allow users to select a specific face and hide images and videos containing that face from the Memories tab. Alternatively, you can hide faces from your entire photo library on your Android phone. This feature was already present in previous versions of Google Photos, but a reported in-development feature could streamline the process.
The report also suggests that no information about a rollout timeline exists. Features discovered during APK teardowns are typically for testing purposes only and may take time for the company to roll them out to the public version of the Google Photos app for Android phones. These features are experimental and may not even be integrated into the app at all.
