Google photos is now making enhanced AI- powered editing tools available for all Google Photos users for free. These features were previously limited to the paid subscribers and the ones who used Pixel devices.

The AI- powered Magic Editor by Google Photos will now be available to be accessed by everyone for free. These editing tools include Google’s Magic Eraser, Portrait Light, Photo Unblur and more.

When can you see these tools for free?

The AI powered editing tools by Google Photos will start rolling out on May 15,2024. It might take a few weeks for these features and tools to reach all users of Google Photos.

Where are these tools available?

For being able to access these tools, there are certain hardware limitations. Either the device must be a Chromebook Plus with ChromeOS version 118+ or it should have at least 3GB RAM. In case of mobiles, the device must function in Android 8.0 or even higher (for Android users) or iOS 15 or higher (for iOS users).

What can you do with the Magic Editor?

Magic Editor makes use of generative AI for establishing complicated edits. You can fill in gaps in a photo, reposition a subject, edit the foreground and background of a photo, change the color of the sky in photos, remove people from the background or remove other clutters and more. Besides Magic Editor, other tools that will be available include Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Sky Suggestions, HDR effect for videos and photos, Color pop, Portrait Light, Portrait Blur, Cinematic Photos, Collage Editor Styles and Video Effects.
