According to a report, Google messages may introduce a quicker way for users to have conversations with Google Gemini.

Google Messages and Gemini FAB

Google messages may introduce a quicker way for users to have conversations with Google Gemini, the artificial intelligence chatbot of the company. Though a similar functionality currently exists in the messaging app, it requires white a few actions before users can actually start having a conversation.

According to a report by Android Authority in collaboration with tipster Assemble Debug, the new Gemini FAB was spotted in the APK teardown of the Google Messages app version in android_20240610_01_RC00. Reportedly, there is a floating button that appears right above the start chat option.

How to bring up the Gemini conversation window?

Currently, if users want to bring up the Gemini conversation window they would need to start a new chat and then select the ‘Gemini’ option. According to Google, this feature is not available in India as of yet. However since FAB is in development right now, users would no longer have to go through an extra step and will be able to tap on the Gemini option to start with a conversation with the AI chatbot in an instant.

The feature is not available to even beta testers. Currently, no information is available regarding when this feature will be rolled out by the tech giant.
