Google AI Overviews will now be available in Brazil, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, and the UK, alongside the US.
Google AI Overviews gets a major update
In a blog post, Google announced multiple updates around AI Overviews. The most significant among them is the availability of the artificial intelligence (AI) feature in more regions. The tech giant has expanded it to six countries including Brazil, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, and the UK. The feature will show text in the local language of each of the country. However, it is unclear whether the snapshots will be available in all regional languages of the country.
Besides the expansion, one minor design change has also been added. Users will see a URL icon at the end of each paragraph within this update. This is meant to display the relevant websites from which the content has been referenced. The feature will highlight the particular sentence which contains content from the website.
Google said that it is also testing the option to add the link within the text. Users will also be able to easily click and see the source of the information. The company claimed, “Showing links to supporting web pages directly within AI Overviews is driving higher traffic to publisher sites.”
What are AI Overviews?
AI Overviews on Google combines the power of conventional web search with the power to deliver insightful search results. This feature has the capability to incorporate multi step reasoning of Gemini AI along with planning and multimodality capability. Users will soon be able to take videos and use them as a search input on Google Lens. Users will also be able to adjust the overview generated by AI by asking it to simplify or ‘break it down’, in the coming days.
