Gamma PS1 emulator for iOS gets Multitap support

Gamma PS1 has received a number significant updates since its launch as , one of the earliest console emulators on iPhones back in May. The latest updates include a new feature called “Enhance Audio”, as well as improved multiplayer support.

Stark has also added support for analog sticks for games using the Dual Shock controller from Sony. It will also include the ability to change discs in multidisc games such as Metal Gear Solid without having to return to the main menu. Stark also released a $4.99 “Pro” upgrade that completely disables ads.

Gamma PS1 emulator: what’s new?

Improved audio

According to its App Store listing, Gamma will be getting an “Enhanced Audio”. This will enhance the sound effects in the game. Benjamin Stark stated in a statement for The Verge that the update will improve the audio experience of gaming by using “reverb” and “interpolation” effects.

Multimap Emulation

The developer informed the media outlet about the emulation of the Multimap adapter from PlayStation for multiplayer support. Multimap adapter is an accessory that was available for the Sony PlayStation console. It allowed users to connect four controllers to the console at once. Select games can now be played by up to four people instead of just two as is the case with this accessory.

Disc Swapping, cheats and

Gamma PS1 app now has the option to switch discs in games with multiple parts without going back to the menu. The emulator app supports cheats now, which allows users to modify games or skip specific sections according to their preferences.

Analog control

Gamma now supports games that use analog controls. Now, this is possible because the app supports the analog sticks of the DualShock controller.

Other

Bug fixes and improvements are not the only notable changes. New controller skins, new cover artwork for game libraries and bug fixes are also included.
