Facebook declared that they will remove the Trending list of its app to prevent the spread of fake news, misinformation, and disseminating unreliable sources.
The Trending list has started on 2014; it was updated in the past few years for the improvement of the app and to avoid bias in both ideological and political characteristics. This feature was active in selected countries and estimated with 1.5 percent in number of clicks by the subscribers to view its article. It helps many users know the trending events or news.
As time goes by, this feature was not getting enough attraction and viewers because of some issues that affected it. According to the company research, this feature was being less useful to all the users because many websites are giving more reliable resources so they have announced to delete this feature on Thursday, June 7. Facebook is also planning to remove some of their products and third-party partners on this feature.
