Nearly two years after its launch, Facebook Marketplace is finally making plans to monetize itself by allowing users and brands to place ads.
In an announcement via press release yesterday, Facebook is now letting Marketplace sellers expand their promotions. Those interested can submit ads into Facebook’s ad auction where sellers can bid to compete against other ads to reach similar target demographics. The press release further details the new option, stating “Ads from businesses appear alongside other products and services in Marketplace, and extending your ads to Marketplace is easy. By selecting Automatic Placements, your ads can appear across our various placement options such as News Feed, Instagram, Messenger, Audience Network and now, Marketplace.”
