A new feature called ‘Memory’ has been announced by OpenAI for ChatGPT Plus users. This feature lets the chatbot recall personalised interactions by letting the AI powered chatbot to remember things.

ChatGPT is getting a new feature powered by Artificial Intelligence called ‘Memory’. This feature allows the chatbot to store things that are being discussed across all the chats which, in turn, helps in making all future chats easier for an individual. This is because the users do not have to reshare the same information with the chatbot any more.
According to ChatGPT, users are the ones who will completely control the memories stored by ChatGPT. This implies that you can ask the AI powered chatbot either to remember or forget things. Besides, there is a toggle option through which you can turn off the ‘Memory’ feature.
How does ChatGPT’s Memory feature function?
When you are having a conversation which ChatGPT, you can ask the chatbot to remember something if you want the chatbot to remember it. You can also allow the chatbot automatically store necessary details from your chat that helps the chatbot to remember facts or information about you. As the chatbot begins remembering more of your conversation, it will get better and better.
According to OpenAI, “ChatGPT’s memories evolve with your interactions and aren’t linked to specific conversations”. However, it is to be noted that if you delete a conversation, it will not delete the memory associated with it.
If you want to disable the feature, open ChatGPT on the device of your choice. Then you need to visit the app “Settings”. Click on Personalization and there you will find an option called ‘Memory’. If you turn the toggle off, you have successfully disabled the feature.
