The Apple iPad has changed significantly. Apple still calls it “Air”, but the new iPad Air 13″ feels more like a professional tablet. If you believe it, the iPad Air’s new size, large display, powerful M2 processor, Magic Keyboard support, and Apple Pencil Pro are all signs that the iPad Air is becoming a personal computer device. The iPad Air 13″ is the favorite iPad. It does everything that people are used to without the weight of the “iPad Pro”.

Apple iPad Air – The perfect travel companion

It’s satisfying to pack an iPad in your bag and head for the airport. The iPad Air is a perfect travel companion. The iPad Air is still lightweight when paired with the Magic Keyboard, which unfortunately is not the latest version. It still feels light, even though it is heavier.

Apple iPad OS is a great iPad OS, but it’s not a macOS replacement

The issue is not with the iPad standard or iPadOS. The problem is with the iPad Pro and the new iPad Air, which try to mimic the Mac experience, leading users expect the same software as they do with their MacBook Air or Pro.

Macs already run iOS apps and the latest iPad Air and iPad Pro models are powered by the same chip (the M2 chip). Apple can make iPadOS look more like macOS, while still keeping iPads as iPads, if it wants to. Apple is upgrading the iPad hardware, while also adding significant upgrades to iPadOS. Recent changes to Stage Manager have made it easier to multitask, or the release Final Cut and Logic Pro for the iPad are examples of the progress iPadOS has achieved, despite Apple’s wishes.

The Numbers app and Affinity designer are not as fluid as they are on the Mac. Apple must decide how professionals view iPadOS, because macOS and iPadOS behave in very different ways.

Performance is not a concern

Battery life is the same on the iPad Air as it was on older iPads despite its larger size.

The placement of the front-facing cameras is a subtle but significant change in the iPad Air. Apple has moved the 12MP camera to the middle of the iPad Air in landscape orientation. This feels more natural when making video calls. Center Stage pans and zooms so that your face is always visible during video calls.

Should you buy M2 iPad Air?

The iPad Air is an iPad Pro in all senses. The larger 13-inch display allows to edit and view more content, and to use multiple apps simultaneously. This is one of the most favorite writing devices. The iPad Air allows to experiment with different accessories and combinations for daily work.
