The Air tags are small button-shaped devices that are simple to slip into a wide array of apple accessories. This includes a 29USD plastic strap, a 39USD leather loop, and a 35USD leather key ring
Apple launched its air tags on 20th April 2021. It’s a beacon guided by Bluetooth which helps in locating lost items or tracking down small essentials.
If an air tag is separated from its owner and is out of Bluetooth range, the Find My app can help in tracking it down.
But like other devices, air tags too have their advantages as well as their disadvantages.
PROS :
1. Air tags are relatively easy to set up and make sure that the consumer can find lost items easily.
2. They are economically affordable (One for $29 and four for $99) ie (one for Rs 2,254 and four for Rs 7,695)
3. The tags tell you the exact location of your lost item and how to reach it even if it’s miles away.
4. The battery lasts for about a year before the customer’s iPhone sends a notification warning about a low battery.
5. A total of 16 Tags can be connected to a single iCloud.
6. This apple product uses an NFC chip to allow easy pairing with an iPhone. If a user detects an unknown air tag they can disable it.
7. Air tags work without any subscriptions.
CONS:
1. An Air tag cannot be used to find the iPhone that it’s connected to as Apple on provides the one device tracking device.
2. It doesn’t come with a lanyard or key ring hole.
3. It doesn’t come with android compatibility.
4. Only the newer models of apple-like iPhone 11 (OS 14 or later) and onwards have the advantage of using the precision finding feature.
5. The tags precision finding feature can’t track objects that are in movement.
6. From a privacy standpoint, Apple has added features and disabled some to discourage unwanted stalking, but this has backfired in a way. While an IOS user is notified that they have come in contact with an unknown air tag. Meanwhile, it will be three days until the android users are alerted of the airtags presence.
7. Due to apple modifying its privacy features, it’s thief friendly. If the said stolen bag has an air tag attached to it, the tag will alert the thief’s phone by either emitting a sound or sending a message. Therefore it’s a not anti-theft potion.
8. They are waterproof but upto 30 minutes.
