Months after bringing voice control to its Android app last January, Amazon is finally adding support for the feature on its iOS counterpart. iPhone or iPad users can now directly command and ask questions from Alexa to their device, as well as interact with Echo devices.
However, due to Apple’s caginess towards third-party apps users will be unable to completely replace Siri for Alexa. To open the voice assistant, they’ll have to open the app and tap the button that will activate Alexa. Android users don’t have this problem, as they have an option to set Alexa as their default assistant. In the announcement, Amazon states the feature will roll out in the coming days.
