With no prior announcement, Amazon has rolled out a new web browser app named Internet that is so far only available in India.
First reported by TechCrunch, the app uses a small amount of storage and data for efficiency. The entire app is less than 2 MB, supports private tabs that don’t save your browser history and is “private”, meaning that it does not ask for or collect your personal data unlike other browsers.
Amazon’s Internet is just among the newest in a trend of essential apps launching smaller, stripped-down versions of themselves like Facebook’s Facebook Lite, Messenger Lite, and a slew of Google’s new Go apps.
