ASUS reported their response about the Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) attacks that targeting international organizations or entities.
The company’s customer service is assuring all the affected user’s security risks were removed. ASUS updated its Live Update Software version 3.6.8 for the improved security. The new version includes a number of security verification mechanisms that will help users to prevent malicious manipulation. The server-to-end-user software architecture has been also developed and strengthened to keep from similar attacks in the future. The company added that the built an online security diagnostic tool to examine for affected systems.
Users that have affected device will need to use the company’s security diagnostic tool or simply contact ASUS Customer Service to fix their device. If a user finds out that their device has been affected, ASUS is advising them to immediately have a back-up of their files and have their regular change of passwords for better security.
The company confirmed that only ASUS Live Update for notebooks has been affected.
